I always get the dogs out of the way whether back on the truck or at least 50-100 yds away, if I can I get the hog either by a tree that I can climb or by the buggy or four wheeler, I cut him and depending on the size I'll either take the hobbles of or just cut them right in the middle so they'll fall off...
The duct tape trick works good and I always keep a few old feed sack in my toolbox on the truck, slide the bag over his head, might have to make a few slits in the sides for the bigger hogs, un tie him and run for the hills lol, he'll fight the bag off of his head distracting him enough for you to get away...
