Most herding dogs make good guard dogs. I have had many bull dogs they don't make good guard dogs as a whole. If there mean enough to confront a stranger they usually won't care who it is. I can't say bout american bull dogs I have only had one and he was but he wanted to kill every thing he seen that's a liability. I had two good sheps both where top notch.
