Tmatt...he was a boar but nothing to write home about...he weighed about 180 or so...
JP...I had five dogs on the ground and a buddy had a mt cur/pt bull cross and that dog rolled out on his own hog and we didn't find him till later...he's a good dog just wasn't where he could help us much...after talking with my son and buddy it was decided after catching a sow to go and see about finding his dog and look for two of mine that were moving a track and those 2 I am fixing to go find them after writing this...they were in a place we are not allowed to go in at...they were a slightly over a mile in and it was a slow moving bay...I like this type of dog but they can be a pain...I will miss at least half a day of work...
The three dogs caught on a sow and I went and took her out...2 dogs struck the boar not far from there before I made it out and the other went another way after working a track...it took me a while to get out and I could see they looped around and came back towards a low water creek...about that time I making it to the wheeler...the lone dog showed up and I loaded him up...I could tell the two dogs had the hog bayed in the water so the dog that was with me heard the bay and he rolled out once we got close enough to hear...I got there and I knew he was not going to get away...once I saw the flashing ivory I called my son as they had just showed up minus any dogs...I told him to hurry because this one can be made into a euro mount...he was missing one whetter and how his tusk grew out on that side it had the chance to keep growing...the other side was quite long but sharp...no dog pictures were taken...the two dogs there were the redbone/pit cross and his grandson who is 1/2 plott with 1/4 mt cur...the other dog is the uncle to the half plott and son of the redbone cross...the first two I mentioned hunt with running vests on...

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
A hunting dog is born not made...
