Dog Breeding

The million dollar question! lol

Everybody has their own recipe and or standards. First I like breeding dogs of the same breed, preferably from the same family of dogs (line breeding). Crossbreeding can and does work, I just don't have any experience with it.

Then I look for these characteristics in this order:
1. Hunt (drive) without that nothing else matters
2. Intelligence
3. Overall Talent
4. Speed
5. Nose
6. Conformation
7. Feet

Also I believe you can only use the list above to help guide, you really need to look at the dogs you want to breed and make an honest assessment of them and make breeding's with dogs you feel will improve on what you have.

There is no absolute answer, just opinions. I have formed mine from the people that have mentored me. Good luck and have fun.
