I quit worrying about copperhead and cottonmouth bites. They will swell up for a few days and then they are back to normal. Rattlers are another ballgame and if a dog gets bit by a big one, he is going to die more then likely. Make sure to take the collar off. Dex and benedryll sure cannot hurt anything tho. I had a Lab that was bit by a black widow on the muzzle. His whole head swelled up like a basketball and I was in a area where there were no snakes. I turned over his doghouse and I bet there were at least 20 black widow spiders there. It finally abcessed and necrossis set in and rotted half his muzzle off.
