Just had this happen. Bit on nose. Head swelled up did the usual - collar off and Benadryl. Everything was fine. One day after he was back to normal head swelled back up. Turned out to be an infected salivary gland due to the bite. 10 straight days of dex and antibiotics and it went down. Just make sure you give a full round. I thought I had it whipped after three days and stopped. Had to start all over again.
