I had a hound get bit had in the vet 48 hours later. Her neck swelled so bad if finally ruptured, I had to clean the rot out for 12 days. I could see her jugular or throat ....thts how far the rot was. Dog was dumb as a box of rocks after that. Vet said it was big timber and it fried her brain.
Timbers are far and away a much worse bite than a diamondback in my opinion. We have them thick on our ranch in central Texas. They bite first rattle second.

Get to hear from you JP...well it be correct in they will stay away from a snake if they know it’s there...fighting a hog or treeing hard I can see a dog could get bit multiple times...
