Salty little rascal. Can you tell me what they are bred up from?

Jake is right on the money but since I like to talk, I will add some details.

In the 1908’s Red was out In west Texas and his neighbor’s papered schnauzer accidentally bred his treeing Walker.

All these pups were jam up hunters so Red put them over a line of gritty Fox Terriers that were being used in the Big Bend country as Trapline dogs.

This breeding had Patterdale added and the result was the Texas Terrier which came in rough and smooth coat, which solid reds like this dog showing occasionally.



After many generations size was being lost (25lbs is standard size) so Red crossed his bulldog “Junk” over some Welsh & Lakeland terriers and this cross was bred in and the size was recovered.
