Heck I didn’t get to finish my story lol. The old dogs went one way when we cast them and the young dogs went another. The young dogs put up bay first. The hog broke and was leaving or so he thought. When he got to the edge of the wood line he realized he was out of real estate and and literally dove out into a pond. I promise he thought it was alligator teeth popping at his back door. We caught him but got a shot on one bulldog right in what would be our arm pit. We put him up and just used Kohl’s ole Bo dog from that point. Jay’s rat dog was bayed solo and the youngins all went to him. Caught a nice sow in the creek there. They rolled over bayed and the hogs broke. Outlaw and Shaymus went .75 and bayed. Rat and timber caught a shoat and Ranger was bayed at 400+ on a pig he got tired of mauling. I got him off of that and a boar came through and Ranger lit out after him. Ken and Pete had came back from wherever and were north of us and I can’t remember if it was Pete or Rat that was solo bayed but it got quiet as soon as we sent Bo. We got him back and Ranger was bayed after making a .75 horse shoe. The other dogs all got with him. We went and caught the sow outlaw and Shaymus were on and then they went to the other bay at 877 from us. It was a solid bay when we got over there but I busted it trying to drive too close. 150 yards and he was in the creek with dog earrings and wishing he had stayed where he was, lol. We caught the dogs and called it a day. Sure was a fun little hunt. This is my honey hole spot. It’s not hard to find hogs here but it sure will build a young dogs confidence. I didn’t get pics of all the hogs. I kinda got excited and in a hurry to get to the next one.
Some good ole Texas thorns!
