Tuff luck
Maybe it be something to learn from to -
Dogs staying - going back to- won’t leave - etc etc-at  or on a dead or caught hog for any length of time is going backwards in my opinion - I stay glued to my gps at all times and know about what dogs are doing - take it for what it worth but may save you in the future
You probably know this but just friendly advice
