Those ole wise hogs are hard not to respect and appreciate. He’s smart but he’s teaching those young dogs at the same time without realizing it. He doesn’t have much of a choice though. On a high note, at least you didn’t get anything hurt and still not get him, that’s frustrating. Sounds like the young dogs did a good job of pushing through and not staying hung up. Anytime I’ve seen dogs get hung up like that, it seems like it was either young dogs or dogs with a heavy hound influence.  Not knocking your dog, just an observation I personally experienced. If I had to hunt a “pure” bred dog it would be a hound. I have no doubt you’ll get that hog and your pups will make you proud.
