Went to 3 places, 1st place went real smooth and normal, 2nd place cattle would not move from a horse "no respect whatsoever" did get them penned, then 8 or 10 got out on the road and had to repen and catch some of them, 3rd place cattle were stickier than the 2nd, never saw any like them, they ran bawled and fought dogs for a long time with several trying to escape one at a time. When they got settled it was almost impossible to move them even though the dogs were giving them room so I put the dogs up and still they didn't want to move from a horse enough to"drive" them, it was getting late and the owner had to go to hauling the other 2 places so he called it off for the day, rather embarrassing for me, the owner and his help.
Not too long ago I was playing with my nephews Corriente cows and for a year or so he had left dogs bayed on them for hours, they learned if they'd be still it was okay. I was by myself and nearly rode my horse to death going back and forth across the back "pushing" those cattle. I went to the truck and got my hot shot, for 30 minutes everytime I could reach a cow I lit her up.    After that I drove them a mile just in a good steady walk without having to push them or swing back and forth behind them. I'm old and wore out but had never saw this issue before unless your dogs were fighting cattle on the front.
