I still use Taurus SC (fipronil the active ingredient) and never see a tick on my dogs after years of use, we have lots of ticks, 4 cc/ml from hips to collar, dose pups proportionally, dip the syringe in the cup of Taurus and wipe it on the top of their ears and the flies don't bite the top of their ears. With the dogs not bringing ant ticks home we almost never have ticks in the yard.
We only get fleas every few years but use Dominion (Imidaclorpid active ingredient) treat all grown dogs 15-20 cc/ml dose pups proportionally, get it to their skin, belly, under arms, and down back, and in 2 days no fleas and they don't come back from a hatch. I have heard on here that the Dominion has failed to work for some folks.  The Taurus doesn't seem to be bullet proof for fleas nor the Dominion for Ticks.
This is a very affordable way to treat all these dogs, can't get any of the dog manufactured meds as cheap.
For example-78 oz. bottle of Taurus is $95.00 and has 576 doses in it, that computes to 17 cents per dog per month, that's $2.04 per dog per year.
