Well. Carried sketch to the vet this morning. She’s gotten quite a belly last few weeks but is in heat right now and is on schedule to be.
Started out as a possible false pregnancy/pyometra. Test all come back negative, no parasites.
X ray of abdomen showed the pot belly was being caused by lots of fluid. And xray of thoracic cavity showed the cause. Right sided heart failure. She’s got a significant murmur and the right side of her heart is about 1.5x the size it should be. Be a few days on tests but we sent off for a chagas test and a test to see how much heart damage has occurred already.
Pretty bad day around here. Vets want to wait on test before we start talking about time she might have left, but I know we’ve got a lot of hanging out to do starting this evening.
