Good posts. Im not sure how old of a track they can take honestly. They do cast hunt really well. In general they have there noses on the ground running tracks silently, but in dry conditions they will defiantly have there nose up winding. Ive heard about bird dogs pointing and not baying but the 50-75% cat in them we've never had one do that, they bay like any cur dog. We have never hunted a pure EP, those are his quail dogs. The EP crosses do seem to be gritty but ours dont get cut often bc they wait for us or the cd on big ones usually about 4 ft back, but they are hell on the rest. One of the sows we caught was not small and by the time we got there not only was her ears off and hams/butt shredded her lung under her front arm pit was hanging 1/4 way out before we even stuck her.
