Take a pair of fingernail clippers, and trim the end of the charger cord.  Where the arrow is, just trim it a bit.  It should let it fit better, and the blue light should come on.

Before doing this mod, I used to put one foot in the air, close my left eye, blink my right eye 12 times, and hold my breath in hopes that the little blue light would come on.
