When I was an employee of my state's DOC, as a matter of employment policy, we were not allowed to have any involvement in political campaign activity while identifying ourselves as such, nor were we allowed to speak for the dept or identify ourselves as employees of the DOC in a public forum or media outlet without prior approval. The only thing we were allowed to do was direct someone to published info on the DOC website, to the press/PR office, or the legal council's office.
