We did just like you mentioned Dexter for a septic on a camper up the country.  Put a washout in the lid to use for a clean out and then attached 40' of large black plastic pipe to the barrel for a drain line.  We just used one barrel as it is a small camper that does not get used all that often.  We add enzymes to it though the washout when needed.
