it is really hard to get a felony conviction on a dog shooting. This is because of the intent. shooting an animal is not meant to be torture. you mean to kill it. It falls on #6 on the law. basically you dont have the owner's permission to do bodily harm to their animal. It is almost impossible to prosecute someone that shot their own dog for the same reason. unless he lives through it an the owner does not seek veterinary care. I have been a cruelty investigator for 8 yrs and these cases are always disapointing in court. I would be glad to help anyone that needs it.
