Not all hunters that sell dogs are dog traders and most hunters raise the best dogs. That being said Mr Mason is first and formost a hunter that is why he raises such good dogs, but there are many others that do to.
There are several questions that would have to be asked, since your post is unclear as to what you want. Breed Age Type Hunting style Ability The list can go on. If you got stung before you will again if you dont know what to ask. Have you used dogs before in any fashion? Where are you located? How will you hunt? These are all questions a good dog man/woman will ask you or should ask you when you are looking for a dog, and more.
To group hunters in with dog traders just means you have dealt with the wrong people before and as a hunter no my dogs wouldnt be cheap but they do have the experiance. At the same time there are many that claim they do it for a living and that means 0, my point is, its not the title that a person is given or claims to have that matters it is their moral values that count the most. You can be riped off by the best hunter just like you can from a dog trader or someone that claims to breed and train dogs.
All that being siad I told JC from Uglydog the other night that if I were to look at buying a dog other than something I raised it would be from Mr. Mason. But again there are many others that raise and train great dogs.
Lionandboarhunter on here rasies some very good dogs but he is a "hunter" like I am. Longshot on here is getting some good lines going, again a "hunter". JJB on here has some jam up dogs but again a "hunter". Get the picture? That is just a couple I can name from my area.
