Gregg,

I most likely did not explain the total situation very cleary.  The part of Florida that I hunt is not over run with hogs.  They are present, but they are not thick.  Knowing that they will be pursued if they cross a road, they tend to move at night, basically staying in the pines or swamps during the daylight.  Gererally speaking, you have to have some form of a trail dog to get on them.  A winding dog, would most likely leave you frustrated all day long.  They are too scattered.  Having a good rig dog (striking a scent where it crossed the road) makes things easier.  Of course, I did not say EASY.  Just as there are plenty of positive aspects that curs bring to the table, hounds also have their upside if used in a bennificial way.  Like I stated before, most around these parts, use some of each in their pack.  It is all about what works for you specifically in the terrain you have access too.  Catching hogs consistantly where ever you drop your pack speaks volumes.  That's the way I see it.

Regards,
Josh
