I made a round with my hunting buddies, Amber and Kyle (Barbie), this morning. It’s the first trip in a while for me and Kyle too. We went to a spot of Amber’s where she was confident that we could avoid any deer hunters. The second we turned onto the county road off of the highway, it was like we entered another world or something. I mean it went from not a drop of rain to a monsoon with thunder and lightning. It’s a pretty good haul to this spot and the radar said it would be cleared out in about 20 minutes, so we decided to wait it out. It stopped and we unloaded the buggy and headed to where we wanted to cast. It was water EVERYWHERE. Every little ditch was now a flowing creek. We only had Amber’s bay dogs, all the same family of dogs I have. They hunted for about 45 minutes to an hour and we started calling and toning them in. We go way around to another spot and they acted hoggy right out of the box. We all three noticed it and commented on it. I said well they might be smelling hogs but they won’t get bayed until the bottom falls out again. A couple of minutes later it started sprinkling, then a little more, then straight out rain and right on cue the garmin said they were bayed. We drove out heading around closer and the rain was coming from every direction it could. Then the bay broke and the dogs were headed straight back to where we cast from. Then they stopped and bayed again only to break again and this time dogs split bayed all over. We were back and forth trying to get to dogs but never could before it would break bay or get close to the road and we would tone them back off the road. The whole time the rain was turning off and on like a kid playing with the faucet. As we headed to the last bay, it was raining insanely and the thunder and lightning had returned. I know a few of those lightning crashes made my butt pucker! We finally got as close as 450 to them and started to tone and call them in. It was as close as we could drive and for sure the rain was coming back. We no more got them loaded and turned around and the bottom fell out again. We finally got back to the truck and loaded up. It was an experience for sure. It was also a good time with plenty of trash talking.
We had plenty of catch dogs, lol.
The crawfish were even running for cover

Couple pics of ole Robber. He’s a half brother to my dogs Outlaw and Ava. All three have the same momma, my old Raylynn gyp but different daddies. Robber is a really nice dog from a real solid litter. She had a nice set of dogs. We didn’t catch a hog one but it wasn’t any fault of the dogs.

Well it's a good thing you have trash talking on a "dry run" like that!

WOW we struggled with the trash talking because we never do much of it, but we had to have something to do!

Cajun, ole Robber is a hog dog. He does have the leg and he does use them to travel. He’s real easy to get along with and just had a lot of real good qualities.

Now the bulldogs, well there isn’t a pretty one in the bunch, maybe not even a good one lol. They catch and they handle well. All of them are off leash bulldogs. Amber can verbally control and take two at a time to the bay without them leaving or being on a lead. That makes them worth having around as far as I’m concerned.

That Robber dog is a looker, if he hunts half as good as he looks he’s certainly a keeper. And those catch dogs look all business. That’s quite the adventure ducking the lightning and trying to get the dogs back and not get swept away in a flood. We got rain all day yesterday, it was what we needed after all the dry months.
