Back on the 19th of April, we decided to give the hogs a break and hit Lake Whitney (my favorite jug-fishing lake) to check things out. With rains a few weeks before I had been watching the lake levels and noticed it had come up about two feet. Fresh covered grass = lots of cats in the shallows. We caught shad here on Belton the night before and hit it early. The north wind had us chasing jugs all over the lake because the area I wanted to fish was a north bank. I usually set the jugs out and let them blow in...this time was the opposite but the fish were definately there.
We ended up with 44 fish up to about 12 pounds. Nine gallon size ziplocks full of filets fit perfectly in the freezer! With cooperation from the wind, we could easily have had limits. I'm thinking of going back in the next couple of weeks and give it another whirl. All fish were caught in 4' or less water.
