I had a 5wk old pup die last week, he had what looked to me to be the onset of parvo. I had my wife get him away from my other pups and take him inside, he got to where he wouldnt eat or drink anything unless it was from a syringe and then died about an after after feeding. I had him on 1 egg a day and goats milk along with hard food softened up in the milk and egg just to help put size and weight on him early. I talk to a friend and told him the symptoms and he said it was virus called corona (like the beer). Does any one know or know of the symptoms described above? Oh he DID NOT have blood in his stool and the stool was runny mostly.

The obvious symptoms of coronavirus are very similar to those of parvo and no differentiation can be made based on symptoms alone.  However, puppies seldom die of coronavirus.

I would assume parvo and closely watch the rest of the pups.

Were they all vaccinated?

I had a situation like that last year. after 1000s on vet bills it was determined to be saminila and ecoli that killed my 4 pups. I thought it was parvo so I didn't treat with antibiotics. My mistake and it will never happen again. There are several bacteria infections that can cause what you are describing and will kill the pups unless treated with antibiotics.

No I have not given any of my pups a parvo shot, I have lost 3 pups to parvo just a couple days after giving the shot and I do not give my dogs the shot. I tell every one that buys my pups why they have not had the shot and let them know that I will give the new owner the 7-1 to them and they can administer the shot themselves. Is there any safe means of giving the shot w/o taking the risk of killing the dog from the shot?

I have never heard of pups dieing from Vaccines. I do know that parvo can last a long time in the ground and you should bleach all areas that have come into contact with parvo

There is a time after a pup is weened that it still carries immunity from the mother for parvo. If the vaccine is given at that time it is of no effect. When mom's immunity wears off the pup can get parvo making it appear that the vaccine caused it.  My Vet believes in vaccinating a lot and early, hoping the coverage over laps.

I had a pup with parvo symptoms. A local dog man suggested two (2) ounces of standard chlorine bleach in thirty (30) ounces of liquid given orally. I used chicken broth, pup hated it. I do not know if the pup really had parvo or even if the stuff really worked but he lived.

We had a bout of parvo on our place here recently...our vet said there is also a virus going around here in oklahoma that mimicks parvo in almost every way-the only way to differentiate of course is by lab testing. He said to save $$, syringe feed em' gatorade, you can give them pepto for the diarrhea/vomiting, i'm pretty sure the dose is 3cc/5lb. Make sure you bleach all your kennels-if it is parvo alot of people tell ya you've got it for at least 7 years on your place...
Another thing on those vaccines that I've just recently learned: it's more of a problem if you have summer pups that you have to give vaccinations to, but if the 5/1 or 7/1 gets above a certain temp at any point before you get it into the dog, it kills the vaccine and you might as well have given them water! And to make matters even worse-most feed stores/distributors don't keep up with the temps in their fridge (although i'm pretty sure they're supposed to).

It wasn't parvo b/c all 7 of my registered pups are still alive. Knock on wood, I aint had any problems with parvo where I'm at now. When using bleach after an infesation of parvo, I had several vets tell me 6-8mth before the area is safe to use again. When I would buy the parvo vaccines, I would always take a small bag cooler with a frozen water bottle in it to keep the vaccine chilled, but as was said if the distributor aint keepn tabs on the cooler then it aint no good no how.

I use Solo Jec 7 Plus for all 4 shots and have not had a problem thus far.
The optimal temperature to keep the vaccines at is between 35-45F

This may be way off, but i had a buddy that had pups and about every other day one would die.  They tried everything they could think of for parvo.  They had symptons of not wanting to eat and having running stool just as you mentioned.  After thinking the whole time it was parvo or some type of infection and pumping them with anitibotics it turned out to be hookworms.  Not saying that's what your case was, but it sounds possible.  had you wormed all the pups before the one died?
