Found a nice place to hunt pheasant about an hour from the house here in Oklahoma.  We knocked down 9 roosters before lunch time the third weekend of the season.  Went back last week and hunted hard all day for 6 birds with just two of us.  Those roosters get smart quick and fly the second you slam the car door.  Beautiful land and the guy does a real good job managing the habitat.  He leaves strips of milo along the drainage ditches and creeks.  The place is loaded with pheasant and good for the young dogs.

Just thougth I'd share a pic.  Hope everyone is having a good season.

Good deal Kevin, I love hog hunting but watching those dogs work and pups turn on to birds is pretty dang fun too.  Sounds like you found a good place to hunt close to the house!

Is the new Brittany related to his other one?  Did y'all hunt horseback, or have to run to keep up with with BJ's dogs? Lol

Matt- I don't have any bird dogs anymore but the two guys with me take to those bird dogs like we take to hog dogs.  It's fun to watch them get "birdy" and a big rooster jump up 10 yards in front of them.

Kevin- That brittany is a littermate to the one he lost at the ranch.  The pointer he's holding is one BJ gave him when he lost his two.  This is the first season for the Brittany and he stays in close and beats the brush good.  The other two pointers were "field trial culls" and BJ has them working pretty close.  They ran big a few times and busted some birds but the electricity around their neck made them think twice about doing that again.  Grin

Thanks Mike.  It's not quite like flipping a big boar but it gets your blood pumping.  Any time in the woods with good friends is all we can ask for these days.
