My buddy and his brother had a litter of pupppies out of there best male and female hog dogs. They are both just crossed up curs. The female is small probably 35 or 40 lbs and is a heck of a hog dog. The male is long legged and bigger and one of the best I've seen. Ok..... my question is this. I get pick of the litter out of the females and there's a couple that are gonna be built like the male and a couple built like the mama. As a hog dog is there one that would be better. Might not matter but how do you know if you don't ask. Thanks for any advice.

That's all personal preference.. What ever fits you best. I seem to like a dog on the smaller side for a couple of reasons first is agility. Most of your big dogs are gonna be on the clumsy side and no as quick on their feet. Another is heat tolerence. I have noticed that the bigger dogs have more difficult times with heat than do he smaller ones. Alhough yhe best dog I've ever seen was a male about 75 Lbs.... This is just my opinion and in no way is it a fact

Smaller dogs are cheaper to feed and more agile most of the time. In the brush like I hunt in they get through it better too. That's just what I like.

Function follows form. A dogs individual strengths will develop from how he is built.
