I need to get a kennel built but my dad is waiting for his friend that can get the cement as smooth as glass to come over. But I can't get anything done because the guy will just come over and tell me what I did was wrong and tear it apart. If someone could help with the form and can get that smooth cement I have plenty of beer. I can help with any part of it too. I need a 20x40 slab. I was thinking two 10x40's back to back with the high point in the middle with a one inch drop to the front of both sides. Once I get the slab done I can get to welding up a kennel. It is near Magnolia, we have a tractor with a front end loader, beer, a bobcat, beer, and we will get a truckload of cement and more beer if we need it. It will need just under ten yards of cement if it was a four inch slab. That is what I know. Now I need help getting my dogs a new home. Do I need pics of their sad faces to get help or is the beer enough?

If someone knows a better way let me know. We are going with 8x10 kennels so we can get 5 on a 10x40 slab. Then building another back to back so there is a common wall to save costs. It want it to be kind of like boarwild's

Unless you plan to somehow hose them from the back to the front, wouldn't you want your slope going the other way?  Otherwise your washing against the slope, and that won't work very well.  Having kennels back to back on concrete won't be the easiest to clean.

u can use 1x4's for the forms with 2x4's for ur form stakes and yea i would use concrete wire instead of rebar since it aint gonna hav a load on it other than dogs and a lil metal.

Yesterday?

For dog kennels I would recommend 3"-4" deep and 1x4's for your forms. Re inforcment steel can be rebar or wire mesh. Wire mesh will be lass expensive and will be fine for your kennels. Depending on what you have to work with some foundation material may be needed.

Im not sure if you want a mirror slab finish for you kennels though. A broom finish looks real nice and you will be less likely to slip and bust your tail on it. I will give you a call tomorrow but I am headed out of town on Tuesday and will not be back until the weekend.

If I was closer I would sure help ya. I have a bull float and trials and a jitter bug. If your not gonna vibrate it atleast jitter bug it. It will help the air bubbles to surface and also keeps the cracks and pea holes down. Already been said but I would broom it also. Make sure u tie the mesh or whichever u use up half the distance of the top of the form to the ground. Even on the slope..

Put some retarder in it... It will give you more time to work it. If you dont want cracks you will need to vibrate it. I work for an engineering company and deal with concrete on roadways and bridges every day, if i can help you let me know.
