So we were back and forth whether we were going to go on this hunting trip or not and we finally decided we were going on friday so we set everything up and saturday we headed out at 4 in the morning, it was me my dad my two brothers chino and manny, and my brother in law keegan, and the dogs we took were Sophie, Willie, Montero, Cody and two pups out of Sophie and Montero named Mocha and Calabaza and my brothers two catch dogs Dually and Bo. Got there around 7:30 and started our hunt at 8. We took our atv but we left it at the truck please dont ask me why! we started walking and were crossina a big cow pasture we crossed over a fence and started crossin the next cow pasture, ahead of us about 200 yards on the right there was a herd of about 50 head of cattle and last time we were there they had rushed on us but they were over on the other side of the creek and couldnt get us but this time they were on our side and my dad kept warning us to get over to the left because they were going to chase us and so me and my dad started walking towards the left but my brothers were still walking toward the cows and being loud talking and my dad was naggin and naggin until finally what he said would happen happened!!! We saw those cows rushing towards us and we had to do a 150 yard sprint towards the left and head toward the river  Shocked all I remember was hearing my brother Manny telling me "CRISTY HURRY THEY ARE GETTING CLOSER!!!!" at that moment all I could think about was the FOUR WHEELER!!! and how I wished I was on it!! lol all our dogs were spooked hauling ass away from the cattle too....thats how you know you did a good job breaking them off cows  Grin Cheesy we got to the side of the river and cows stopped but were still mean muggin us lol wooohh we had to catch our breath for a sec except my dad of course he didnt even break a sweat!!! We headed straight towards the woods and my dad went ahead of us, when we got closer to the woods we hear Willie open up and then Montero and pups right behing them, a group of about 20 hogs had come out in front of my dad and the dogs had them bayed up, Bo gets there catches this big ol sow then followed Dually, my brother manny got her legged and was trying to hold her down, me and my dad were trying to get dogs off, we get catch dogs off and this big ol girl somehow slips away  Shocked she had already been stuck and didnt get far Bo caught her again and the pups were baying...I guess it was a good thing to give the pups some more action and practice but we teased my brother the rest of the day for slipping up   Cheesy Cheesy my dad said this was the biggest hog of the bunch. Pups were there at the bay and they did really good, Sophie and Cody were gone after the rest of the group, and we got these pics.

Daughter, Father and Son (also same order with the dogs not done intentionally just coincidence Smiley)

Here are the guys and catch dogs

We kept hunting and separated, my brothers went further in to the woods and we stayed closer to the clearing but we were still in the woods some and my dad told me lets go over to the left and go further in the woods making the clearing behind us and my brothers fell behind, I noticed Montero getting a little piggy and Mocha the pup also was right behind him trailing like crazy and then we hear Sophie and Willie open up a couple times and then silence then I hear something running my way and I look right in front of me a boar stops and is looking straight at me about 15 yards from me on a slight hill and my dad was over to my left the same distance, my dad says to me "dont move Cristina stay still" and the hog just kept staring at me then at my dad and back and forth with his head low for at least a good minute, about 10 yards right from the boar in a ditch were the pups frozen trying to listen for another bark but since they were low in a ditch they could not see the boar over them and when the other dogs started baying again the pups headed that way and took the boars attention off of me and my dad and he bolted out of there. He was pretty niced size maybe 180#. Me and my dad headed to the bay and we heard grunting we looked over and in the creek Dually had caught a sow all by himself and my brother Manny was already taking care of it so we headed to the other bay, we got there it was another sow Bo had caught and montero, willie, and pups had bayed it, my dad legged it and I gave it a good stick. Sophie had found the group and rolled out after the two sows were caught. Meanwhile Chino and Keegan were trying to get to the bay when it was all already over Grin Cheesy I guess the run from the cows got to them and Keegan was having some trouble with his shoes  Wink I will quote what He said to my brother when they heard the dogs barking and started running to the bay. Keegan:"Wait let me take my socks off"  Cheesy Who worries about their socks when theres a bay!!!!  laugh laugh I saw about 20 little shoats on the way to the bay scattering in all directions. The pups got some more practice and were getting it all figured out. We had a fun time making fun of each other and had three nice sows caught by 11!!!! Then on the way back out we got chased again by the cows but this time we were closer to the fence and just ran a little distance.

Manny carrying the bigger sow on his back

So that was Saturdays hunt. Land owner sent us to another place and we stayed at the cabin there woke up at 6:30 in the morn and started to head out around 7 got in the woods and in about 20 minutes the dogs had a good boar bayed up in this vine netted thicket that was hell to get to. I got some video I will post later. Manny got there first of course and was trying to get him legged but the boar wasnt going anywhere with a catch dog on each ear and dogs baying it, we heard a pup yelp but no one got cut just got hit. He didnt have any big cutters or anything but he was good sized and we were just glad we caught a boar. My dad and Chino went off and left me and Manny with the hog, they were going to cut a trail for us to drag the hog out and while they were gone cody found a shoat right behind us but he was too fast and was going under all those thorn vines where the dogs were too slow to get through it. Then we hear Sophie and Willie open up over in the direction my dad and Chino were and I hear a yell so Manny tells me to stay with the hog so we wouldnt lose it and goes that direction then I hear Manny yelling to me "CRISTINA ITS COMING RIGHT AT YOU!!!!" usually when they yell at me its because its a big hog and they want me to find a tree! Im in this thicket where we could barely stand upright and im looking around me like where is there a tree and I find 3 small trees that were growing intertwined and i jump up on them and Manny yells at me again "CRISTY WHERE ARE YOU?!" and I yell back "IM IN A TREE!!!" Then i look over to my right and I hear something small running and he answers back "WHY ARE YOU UP ON A TREE ITS A 70 POUNDER!!!"   laugh Well, I felt ridiculous but it happens lol. They all come back and he tells them what happened and they got a good laugh. They had hit a big group and the dogs and hogs scattered everywhere and they ended up catching a little shoat. We were done hunting by 9 but we still had to get the hog out so we found the creek and drug him through there. We had a really fun time together, I think we had way too much fun cause im sore as heck today!!!!

I also noticed a big difference in my dogs performance since I have been feeding them Victor dog food, especially in Willie who is eight years old, he had so much more energy and they didnt get tired as easy as they did before. Even though we hunted for a short period of time we walked A LOT!!! And I definately could tell in Willie and Sophie that the food is making a big difference!!

Im happy about the pups especially Mocha, she really used her nose and when she figured out what we were there for she was all over the place. Calabaza not so much but he was still at every bay and im going to give him more time. HELL they are about to be 8 months old and it was there first hunt so Im happy with that!!!

Boar we caught

This is the cabin we stayed at.

Thanks everyone for the comments!!!

Yes, I love hunting with my brothers and my dad, I feel extra safe with them around  Cheesy. But we are that family that does all the hunting together. My dad is turning 73 this month and I want as much woods time with him that I can get, plus hunting is what really keeps him in shape if he stopped hunting im sure he would go down hill. I always have a great time in the woods no matter who im with but it is extra fun with family, and I know they got my back if anything went down.

sounds like great fun, ummm where was my invite?  lol  Tongue

uhhh Shawn remember you were waiting on a certain someone to answer their phone to come....what, you cant hunt without your boyfriend?  Evil Grin Cheesy Wink
