I just has some questions on ladner bmc. I have a six year old male and wanted to get other hog hunters experiance with this line of dogs.
I know that foundation weatherford bens dogs are very popular around here.
Just looking for some feed back.
Thanks

The only ladner cur I ever owned was a gyp, she started real easy and was a smart little dog, but when she was about 14 months old she got hit pretty hard one day and after that she was tipped.  She never would commit to a bay anymore, her concentration was shot so I had to get rid of her.. I am sure that this little gyp was probally the exception to the rule, the line of dogs is suppose to be real gamey and easy to train on any game...

Got a male about a year and a half ago. Smart easy to train( cows & hogs). Needed some new blood in my dogs. I think I made a good choice in this line. He got freight trained about 3 months ago and got cut pretty good and was laid up for a while. Got my first litter out of him about 5 weeks ago out of one of my straight cow working gyps. The pups look greet.

Thanks for the post. My male has never got out and hunted for me. But as soon as the strike dogs open up he is there and bays like a champ. He is fairly gritty and will stop a running hog. He is smart enough to back up and bay when he needs to. I not sure if I am going to breed him due to his nice muscle conformation and very hog smart. But the tought of sell him has aslo crossed my mind. His grand parents are right out of ladner yard. So he has the genitics in his blood.
Any advice?
Thanks

I've got 2 males about a year old. They started baying young, and are starting to hunt. But they are also wanting to open up. I've had to start hunting them separtely with dogs totally silent in hopes I can keep them from yipping. Worked on a gyp I've got, just hopes it works again.

I live about 45 minutes from ladner and have hunted with some of his dogs. A lot of the ones I've seen were pretty open and were also real shy acting. I know a few people that own them and like them though..

My dog is silent as can be. If he open he is face to face with a hog. As for being shy he is not. I guess I am going to keep him around. Atlease he has a job and is not a total potlicker. I might try to breed him back to a Ben female. He loves to go hunting but doesnt like to hunt. If that makes any sense. But once the strike dog finds a hog he is lights out.
