I took my wife and boys out on memorial day morning to see if we could get on a hog before it got too hot.  We made a couple turnouts with no luck so I decided to stop by a tank and let the dogs cool off and get a drink and maybe hit some sign while we were there.  We kicked the strike dogs out at the tank and two of them swam straight across and disappeared into the trees on the other side.  We waited for a while and I decided my new pit pup could use a swim so we let her out of the box to cool off and get some exposure to water.  I had lost all three strike dogs on the garmin so I was walking up the hill back to the pickup when it picked up my old Betty dog and showed her treed at six hundred yards, so we loaded up the pup and drove as close to the bay as we could.  We got to within about a hundred and fifty yards with the pickup and could hear the dogs baying, so we unloaded Beetle, the catch dog that we are borrowing for a while (thanks Cody!) and my oldest boy, Cason and I headed in to the dogs while Erin stayed at the pickup with the youngest one, Eastin.  We got there and the dogs had a nice boar bayed in the cedars.  I had hoped to get a picture of the bay but the stupid camera wouldn't focus fast enough to let me so I cut Beetle loose and she got him caught after a little struggle.  I tried again to get a picture as she was catching but everything was moving too fast for our old camera so all I got was tail ends.  I legged and stuck the hog and got all the dogs back out to pickup, then went back for the boar.  We took a few pictures, got him gutted and called it a day.  Hog weighed right at 150 gutted so I guess he would have gone two hundred or a little less on the hoof?  Had a good time with the family, Cason is really liking the hog hunting, especially now that he has claimed one of my strike dogs.  Of course it was his Blue dog that found the hog, at least according to him.  Here's some pictures.

My sorry excuse for an action picture.  Hog moved faster than the camera.

It's great when hunting is a family thing. Sounds like you had a great time and made some great memories.

Great job!!!  Those boys are growing like a couple weeds!!!  Won't be long before both of them will be tagging along and fighting over whose dog found the hog!!  Congrats on a nice boar hog!!
