We had a real fun hunt last night and caught two nice hogs. It Chris, Mandi, Jason, Sean, Carolyn, Harry, myself and Raul... Chris and Mandi's neighbor.

The ranch we hunted is very unique. These hogs are land-locked and we believe they are 100% pure feral... with no "Russian" influence. Every hog we've caught there has been red/black or red/white spotted.

We struck a group in a grown-up pasture and caught the first one... 185# young boar. While we were tying him, we had three other bays going on. Everything kept breaking and running except for one and we headed that way. Turns out they were on an island in a long and narrow lake. It was several hundred yards long and had about a 50 or 60 yard wide strip of water around the island. Six dogs were set up and bayed solid. Harry found a shallow spot to cross and went to see what it was. They were on the edge of the water on the other side of the island. Chris, Sean, Jason and I headed across with Clifford and Tyson. We got about 10 yards from the bay and sent them in... still not knowing what was bayed. It was a very fat sow... we all put her at 300#, but she ended up 250# on the scale because of how short in length she was. Got her tied and floated her out. Grin

They're both at Jason's awaiting a date with the sausage man!

Had a great time guys, being as we had to swim, I was sure glad it was warm outside, and not 40 degrees out.

We will have to get back there soon,  Clay next time you need to come, we will send the next hogs to the tamale lady instead of the sausage guy.

If the storm does not blow us away, we can try to make a run out there again next week if y'all want.
