we usually start around dark but it still hot until around 1 am  but we hunt around a lake or a river so we can cool the dogs and ourselves down as needed but it seems we have better luck in the morning i dont like to take my hound out late at night because he a long range 12 hr dog so we run the gritty curs

If I had my choice I would go to sleep about 8 and get up around 1 and hunt till about 7.

i hunt mostly orange groves so night huuntin is all we get to do, since the workers are there during the day.  We usually drop just before dark and hunt till we are either tired, no room to put hogs or out of beer  Grin

I agree with everyone who said after midnight. We hunt at night in the summer time and it really doens't cool off until after midnight. One time we left the house at 10pm and it was still 83 degrees, by midnight it had dropped down to 78 and actually felt pretty good.

yeah we do pretty good in the groves.  not many corn fields in south fl..lol  we do have cane fields, never tried them and dont plan on it anytime soon.  From what i hear those hogs bed down in there and FIGHT HARD, and its tough to get to them..

We usually meet up around 3-3:30 and hunt until about 7am.  That gives us three solid hrs of hunting and if the dogs get on a long run we are chasing them in daylight by that time and we still have a couple hrs to catch them before the heat really starts to set in.  Plus, the "coolest" part of the morning is day break.

We drop the dogs at dark or shortly after and hunt all night. We always carry water in the dog box for them and pick them up between fields.
