Hands down no bones about it my old bosses Brittany Spaniel, not a hogdog I know but I can't honestly say ive ever worked with a dog as switched on as her, as far as hog dogs go my Great Uncle Maurice had a leopard cur that would knock your hat in the creek.

I have had quite a few good mtn curs but the very best I had was striking at about 4 months old. He could figure most any track out strike most any dog and he could line out a track like it was a piece of cake. He was a yellow dog about 55-58 pounds 1/2 bmc and 1/2 mtn cur.
I have to mention another dog that a friend bought out of Sea Drift, Texas back in the mid 1980's that was a pretty good strike dog but his biggest strength was stopping most any hog he struck. He was a red gold colored BMC about 60 lbs. and he was easy to look at. This dog was bred by someone who knew what a good working dog is supposed to look like. Had the best chop mouth I ever heard.

yeller cur dog when i was about 18, bought him for 700 dollars and to this day have spent more money than that on others and still have not found one that can stand up to him... The man I got him from died yrs ago and I cant find his stock nowhere.. i have tried raisin my own and buyin others and can still not find one like him...

Best hog dog was 1/2 mtn cur 1/2 red bone, (still alive) her mother was probably my all time favorite dog. put alot of meat in the freezer, she caught alot of bear and hog, was a little too gritty, which cost her her life about 2 yrs ago. turned 8 dogs loose in front of her (not mine), right on a bears hind end, and she was the only one that had a scratch, well, she had ALOT more than a scratch. R.I.P Jill

I have hunted with some "sure enough" good ones but probably the best hog dog that I have ever seen hunt was a BMC named "Buddy" owned and bred by Anthony Sechelski out of Navasota TX.
Buddy was killed by a deer hunter bayed on a hog about 18 years ago.

A half Plott and half Leopard named Bo, from San Augustine TX. Put on a cold track, free cast, whatever. He defined a long range dog. He was also one of the best bay dogs that I have ever seen.
You could turn him out in the middle of town and he was going to a hog.

didnt get to hunt with him enough and i aint been around long but i met a ol yellow dog named tuffy that could find a hog in the mid of my creek in the mid of summer that takes a damn good dog believe me u should see my creek
