my mt curr gyp is comin in heat.>.> she is over a year old and bayin pigs and pretty gritty. shud i skip this heat and let her mature and give her more woods time befor i breed her? or go ahead and breed her. my thoughts were go ahead breed her to a good proven dog, and maybe tha bred time and tha wheenin time would be used as maturing until i pup her back in tha woods. im cluless so if thats a bad idea id like to know. can yall fill me in? and shud i go with a mt curr, or good old style leapord(not catahula) or plot or what? i got plenty of options and am very curious. thanks

 Personally I would not breed her until she has proven herself in the woods as a finished dog that can do it on her own without help. JMO

If you think that the female is going to be what you want, and is out of a good line of dogs, and you had a very suitable male that was a known producer, "If it was me" and i wanted pups, I would do it.
 As far as what breed, judging by your post, assuming you are looking to breed her to a hound, That would be entirely up to you, there are good and bad in all,  If you could find a good enough male dog, that is/has everything you are looking for, breed shouldnt be all that important as you are making a cross anyway.   
    Some of the best dogs i have had were 1/2 mtn cur 1/2 redbone,  just depends on what suits YOU better.

jmo  if you think she is what you want to continue your breed with her blood and what you choose to breed her with make it a proven hunter  to your liking ...  jmo i like to wait till they are year and half or two to breed .. but if you dont hunt during  deer season it would be a good time ,she should be ready to hunt in late feb.  just my .02

I used to do this on a regular basis without any problems. my idea was to get more generations behind me sooner so that I could increase my chances of getting a higher percentage of good dogs from each generation. She needs to be proven as a hunting dog before breeding her unless you need more dogs now and you know she is from a good line of dogs. If it were me I would breed her to a larger type of mtn cur or a dog that is 1/2 mtn cur 1/2 bmc that comes from a good line of dogs from both sides. This would give you  good sized dogs and possibly quieter on track. Do not make the mistake of picking for color but pick for performance first.

Personaly....I wouldnt do it.. I myself only breed provin dogs to provin dogs that are in my opinion both above average. I am picky about what and when I breed... I try to produce pups that are better than the parents and if I dont think that the breedin will produce that I dont breed. I would let her grow up and finish out and prove her self before I would breed her and see if she could produce what I was lookin for as far as the male I would breed her to the dog thet best fit you style of hunting that you know was a provin producer...I have had some awsome dogs one of which I would put in my top 10 that did not produce anything worth keepin in my opinion Some dogs no mater how good they are themself just dont produce... just my 2 cents take it for what its worth.

thanks guys, i am gonna wait cuz she is young and definatly still a puppy. she runs hard to tha bay and is super gritty, i really wish she wasnt so gritty but she dont know much yet, and id be  a lier if i said she did. i want a rangy dog, one that can keep up with my brownie dog. brownie dont have much mouth onn her so i need something to keep up with her and a mouth tha i can hear. like most people, i want her to get out and go, i dont like a dog runnin 50 yrd passes and comin back. i feel like i could run pigs up that way, so i really want one to get out and go.
