We hunted last night with a guy that my huntin partner had hunted with a few time at his place. So we drove to meet him and hunt some flat country. What is really different to huntin these hills that I'm used to. That flat country is NICE. We met up and loaded Roy's two dogs he took Whiskey and another dog. We took Hud, Pudge, Clown and Little Bill (CD). We cut loose around 9 or 9:30 and the dogs ran coming to check in and then back in again. Then the dogs took out to our right and we turned off the truck and waited. We heard Pudge open but no other dogs. Then another dog, well that dog ended up being a coyote which was one of many that were in that area, so we thought the dogs were trashin on the coyotes. After about 15 minutes all the dogs opened up about 350 yds out. So we got Bill off of the truck and headed to them through some really thick mustard grass and that stuff is nasty. We got closer to the bay and we could hear what sounded like a helocopter landing. They had a BIG sounder bayed up. We could see hogs every where, we figure there was 40-45 hogs bayed up. Cut the CD loose and he got in and caught hard, the other dogs caught with him got in got her legged and stuck and hogs were going everywhere, that sow ended up weighing around 230. While the dogs were caught a boar came in and worked on my CD pretty good, thankfully he had a vest on or it could have been really bad. While we were checkin dogs one of roys dogs moved out and stoped some of the sounder about 30 yds away and we got the dogs to them and when we got to where we could see where they were it looked like a dust storm from all of the hogs and dogs movin. Sent in Bill again and caught hard again got in there and legged and stuck her. Bill took a pretty good hit that cut his scroutum pretty good and Hud took a hit on the inside of both back legs directly across from another, guess the hog ran up under him. But both will be fine, just sore and Bill aint gonna be movin real good for the next few days. The dogs were pretty wore out after all of that and we took the dogs to the truck. Got to another area and just spotlighted and saw another group of hogs and let the dogs out but got out ran and decided to call it a night. It was a great hunt and the first sounder I've ever been at and thats a sound I'll never forget.
