I'm not saying this fella was or was not telling the truth, but we have had dogs get loose and make their way to where we had hogs penned up too. The dogs and hogs are kept two fences/gates apart and a hog was where he shouldn't have been and a dog got loose to where she shouldn't have been. There was no training attempt being made, it was just a wreck. Accidents happen, and I can say that I wouldn't nail that guy unless it happened with regularity. Animal Cruelty is a felony, isn't it? Isn't it hard to maintain work with a felony on your record? On the chance that it was an accident, I hope he is not convicted. You know, beyond the shadow of a doubt and all.
Cheers M

Thats a good point Sir--- it is just such bad press and now it will make it so hard on the rest of us that i got blinded by my rage.
He should have said he had them for FOOD not for training dogs since training dogs in a pen is Illigal in this state, which leads me to believe he is not a hunter but someone who just wanted to get his bulldogs in a pen see what they can do, because honestly ALL Florida hunters know what will happen if ya get caught with a pig in a pen and Dogs to train.
Anyhow you do raise very valuable point--- I shouldnt be judging--- after all I do not have all the details and we know how TRUTHFULL the media can be.

What is sporting? I get sick and tired of hearing that is not sporting. When an exterminator shows up to kill roaches is he told that is not very sporting? When hogs are taken to slaughter of cows is that sporting? Pigs destroy much more than roaches do.

its better to just turn the hogs loose places where it aint any, if that judge had hogs tearing up his deer feeder or his flower bed he would let that man off and tell him dont let it happen again, but anyones dog can get loose and get in the hog pen happen to me a few times, i just think the world needs more educating on hogs

"you can use animals to train dogs as long as it's not in a enclosed area" the way that rule reads the guy could have let the hogs go in open area and trained his dogs without being arrrssted. Then again he would have never caught the hogs and would have been hit with Another type of fine. I feel your pain oly. Dosent sound like this guy was a hunter buy he will put in that group because of his his statements. With this discovery channle show I'm guessing this want be the last arrest.

This is the second time this happens in my county--- the problem is that these folks DO NOT care to understand the law, they see this stuff on TV and want to see if their dogs "HAVE IT" they have no interest in hunting or letting their dogs fulfill what it/they was/where breed for, it’s a game to them.
There are ways to train ones dogs legally in Florida we do it all the time down here.
I respect the quarry I do not kill for trophies and can care less to catch that big rank boar that will put my dogs in the ER and whip my savings and the meat is useless. I personally hunt for the meat I hunt to eat and I primarily hunt for my dogs SOOO this kind of puts things in a bad light for the good guys in my county that KNOW the law and obey it ----these folks are pooping everywhere now, I have folks asking me if I have pigs to test on, people who won’t hunt and can careless about hunting to consume the meat--- they just do not understand, when I tell them it’s ILLIGAL to pen test they look at me like I am denying them--- I tell them to look it up themselves, I attribute this to these stupid shows.
These shows do NOTHING good for the sport and much less good for the dogs ---in this time and era MOST people do not understand why one would go through so much trouble to hunt one’s own food and grow one’s own fruits and vegetables rather than go to the market and be done with it, I believe that there may come the time where supermarket shelves will be empty and there won’t be much to buy at that time these folks will be the ones who will steal and rob from those of us who have made it a point to learn the basics of survival.
I was working some of my dogs the other day on basic obedience and some kids stopped by I was talking to them and was amazed at how little these lads new about anything didn’t know anything not even the basics about dogs ---I have oranges in my back yard and they asked me for some I then asked them about basic agricultural things and they didn’t know either--- When I was 12 I had to help my dad in his garden and he would call the house and tell me to have a pair of rabbits or chickens cleaned and butchered for dinner ---I am proud of my father for passing down so much--- he taught me how to select and breed animals which ones needed culling and for what reasons, he showed me respect for ANIMAL and that killing things is a serious endeavor, he taught me to FEND FOR MYSELF ---I know folks in Texas kill hogs for different reasons and not always the meat I am also good with that the reasons are honorable, I have good friends that live in the state folks I respect dearly and helping farmers rid themselves of SO MANY of these hogs is good.
Seeing animals just killed for trophy or just for the amusement of some or to stroke ones ego really does irk me----sorry for my rant folks.
These TV programs serve no good purpose folks doesn’t help the dogs, doesn’t help the hogs, doesn’t help the sport it only helps to fill someone’s pocket book, puts the sport on a bad light and the biggest thing it only helps STROKE SOME FOLKS EGOS.
Sorry so winded, I just need to vent my frustration.
RESPECTFULLY

we do have some goofy laws in florida. Ill give you that. For instance, hogs are a nuisance animal and property of the land owner. NO license need to kill them all day long with no size limit. But dont get caught transporting a live one without a feral hog dealer license. Also you cant have them on your property (penned) without registering the land with the state as a feral hog holding facility. And even then they have to be penned a certain way and a certain distance away from other livestock. Its rediculous!
