been reading for a while, joined the board last night and this is actually my first post.
im looking for a new all around dog. i hunt coyotes with my current dog and every so often hogs. im looking for a tough as nails, super fast dog that can whip a yote and grab hold of a hog(my current dog just bays his head off) need one that's light on his feet and has great temperment. needs to be a good family dog as well. ive been looking into a catdo, cat/pit and even some standard or scotts type AB's. anyone have any suggestions? ive even thought of some sort of a ridgeback cross.....thanks for the help

First off, welcome to the board.  Sounds like some sort of bull dog x cur might work for what you need. We have a pit/dane and something like that would might work, except for the light on his feet part. He sounds like a horse running through the woods. LOL  |

Stag or stag would be my pick if running yotes also a buddy has a gray hound dogo that might be an option. I have two ridgeback/dogos but for open country might not be fast enough but are fast but not gray hound fast

i like the idea of a ridgeback/dogo, you have any pics? i dont run coyotes, i decoy them. but if i ever get a runner after the shot i want the dog to catch/kill. thanks!

Youll have good luck with any of the dogs you mentioned with the understanding there are good and bad in any breed. My buddy muleman will be getting rid of some pups that are ab/catahoula if your interested-hes just cutting back.
I have a old southern white ab thats performance bred who I really enjoy as a pet and is making a solid cd. scott on this forum sells some of the best in my opinion
I also cant speak high enough of my ppc dogo, even though their not priced right for everyone due to peter and bridgette are in denmark my gyp has been worth every penny if your into that.

Get you some greyhound crosses. They are fast enough to catch a coyote and rough enough to catch and hold a hog or coyote. Only thing is they are thin skinned and get cut real easy. A old man from my town uses them for both.
