Any of you have one of those?

I had a catahoula 30 years back that would point like a bird dog a hog in a bush.  When you told him "get a hold" or made a hissing noise "pssst!" he would rush in and catch the hog.  His father pointed hogs too, after he was on them all day and tired of baying and no one came to help!  He also naturally hunted and retrieved wild California valley quail.   No training, pointed, flushed, retrieved with naturally soft mouth.  I got this line from the NB Hunt Ranch, Texas, from their cow dog line.  I got the reject cow dogs that quit the cows to bay hogs in the brush all day long.

He is the gray leopard cur in photo.  His brother/littermate is the big headed white dog.

This photo is so old they did not make radio tracking collars for dog hunters back then.  You can see the tracking collars on these dogs are homemade.

What a great old photo. Do you have any clue if that ranch still has that line of dogs?

I have had bird dogs point them on several occasions in south Texas.

we crossed a gsp male over one of our curs and when we first started messing with them in the woods they would be running and all of a sudden stop and go on point when they saw a bird lol

A buddy of mine has a birddog  he shoots quail over that loves a hog and will point one for as long as it will stand there when he first finds the hog. If the hog runs and then stops again he will bay it . Problem is he will point a bird too so you never know ..
