Me and joe decided to head out and check some fields for sign last night. We didnt really figure on seeing anything so we just took two dogs. Checked some old fields that we havent ran in awhile and seen some good sign, so we decided to move on down the road and check out a new spot. Pulling up to the new spot i glance over and see a group of hogs grazing on the wheat. I stop put the gps on kate and let her go. Well I wasnt paying attention and had the wind blowing in our back, so started walking down the side of the field till we got down wind from the pigs and kate finally took off after them. She chased a few but never got anything bayed. We decided to go back to my house and pick up Penny and Valdez and see if we could get a few caught. Get back turn loose the dogs and within 5 min they had a group bayed in the wheat. walk to within 15ft of the bay and send bigboy in and he lines one out. of course when i sent him in the group broke and the biggest, meanest hog in the whole group came charging straight at me(thats my story
) and joe almost got his ankle snapped off by a 2lb shoat
if it was even that big
. we finally got past all the kamikaze pigs and got to bigboy and he had a big sow caught. took care of the sow and we decided to press our luck and see if we could catch a few more. dogs took off and within a few minutes had split bays going on but only 20 yards apart. of course the closest we could get to them was 300 yds and the were in some of the worst stuff ive ever been in. so it took us about n hour to crawl through all the briars and thorn trees to get to one of the bays. when we got to within 50 yds of the bay we started getting a lil uneasy, theres something about hearing hogs all around you and you being on your knees knowing that if one comes at you your screwed, but we pushed on and got to within 10yds and sent in bigboy. we hear him hit it, hear the fight, and then hear the briars and trees start popping coming towards us, so we manage to find a way off our hands and knees and find a few locust trees to climb if we have to. well it didnt come to that bigboy got ahold of him again then got thrown off (sure wish i would have brought tyson too)called bigboy back and looked at the garmin and had valdez off 742 to the north and penny 865 to the west. crawled back out of the woods, the second best hour of my life, got to the truck and decided weve had enough for the night. luckily valdez and penny felt the same way cause the were headid back to us. finally pulled into the house a lil after midnight. boy did 445 come early lol. when i looked at my arms this morning looked like someone took a weedeater to it. next time when i go to check sign im gonna have a long sleeve shirt on fo sho
