I found this map and thought the write up was interesting.  I know for us personally we have had right around 6.5" of rain in the past 8 months and 5" of that came in a three day period in late December.  I have never seen a fall-winter-spring as dry as this one has been.  Now they are calling for highs in the mid to upper 90's starting next week.  I am no longer concerned about the grass, I am worried about lakes drying up and large trees dieing.  I guess it will have to rain some day...

Very scary stuff for ranchers and farmers! Everything around here is turning brown, including the weeds!  Sad Our pond looks like a drying mud puddle.

This is an email I got from my dad the other day he had .5 sat and sunday nights total. So u can add that to the total he has.

Hello everyone:  wow, the wind is blowing again in South Mason County.  Mom and dad starting keeping rainfall records in 1951, have some blank spaces, but based on what I have, for the same time frame of Oct. 1 to May 1, this is the driest period.  We have had 2.4" rainfall.  BUT, lets thank GOD that we have not had the earthquakes or tornado's like some places.  The Lord will give us a rain when we need it.

Chris, it is like a drug.  I just really like watching weather patterns and try to make it a life time study.  I have been amazed by it since I was a kid.  Like purebreeds dad mentioned, it will rain, it always does when the man up stairs sees fit.  I cant complain or mope enough to make it rain, you just have to roll with the punches and take them as they come.
