I was talking to my dad the other day and he told me that he has some border collie/pit pups, wonderd if anybody had ever seen that cross done

I know lost of people out west that use them. Make good rough cow dogs and hog dogs with lots of brains and not all of them were straight catch dogs most would bay and put some teeth on them.

Read an article oninternet past week about that cross and a college doing the study as cattle dogs and was decided the the 3/4 cross was a much better cattle dog with more instinct to rive and herd cattle and more athletic speed. Don't think I wold want that on hogs in my area the way we hunt though

There is a breed called a Cattlemaster that is pit,border collie and kelpie crossed. Len Dalton also uses some cross dogs in his program. Most I have heard of are at least 3/4 bordercollie if not more if they are actually still woking and havent been stomped to death by a cow. I would like to read the article Uglydog if you have a link ?
