Hey tbob gave me a heck of an idea using the snaps they use in rock crawling because they have a double locking system and a big swivel. I am going through a good snap every 3 to 6 months now. Been looking and man there is a million different styles but don't know which to use. I really don't want to have to worry about them especialy cds.

Real simple. Gator snaps or locking jaw snaps. I use them on just about all my rig or leashing equipment. They lock, plus they open fully under full pressure when released. They also go on extremely easy. Very handy for catchdogs in particular.

Try useing a big galvanized swivel and then 2 of them ...(not sure what they are called but they look like a tear drop sorta) but put the swivel one the end of the chain and two of those big clips and you can get a few years outa them and it's a strong set up.

For me pg 8 ...2460 " saftey spring snaps" two of them on a galv swivel and a good chain you can get alot if time out out of. Cbk, good link but them you mentioned wont hold up in a chain set up. I saved that link for parts next order |

I use the bull snaps with the S hooks to attatch them to a chain. ain't had a problem yet.

Again I have used that type for feild trial dogs and liked them but brass or not they wont last very long with 24/7 use on a chain they will fail and when I chain a dog in the yard I can't have eguip failures. They do well for leads n such but I wouldn't recomend them for a daily use chain set up. |

Fair enough. If you have used them yourself in the past, I'll take your word on it. I kennel my dogs, but have stakes for road trips and such. How much do your dogs typically weigh?

Don't take it as an argument by any means....just an opinion. I responded to him setting up a chain and I have never had luck with that style on a chain, for lead snaps they are cadilac but the constant pulling and snapping of that chain will break them. I have on average 20 dogs for 10# s to 105#s and have seem 50# curdogs bust them and would not even consider them for a bulldog chain at all, just too much risk. I have never been much on kennels but don't fault anyone who is i always had chain set ups from game dogs too hunting dogs. That link is again a good resource tho and appeciate the link. Can you post a link for of the clip I was trying to explain to him? I always used big bull snaps on my smaller dogs and recently tried some big brass bull snaps and they failed in half the time of the other bullsnaps the brass is just too soft.

That's it man thanks.....if you put a heavy a swivel and then two of these you will get a long life outa them I think partly cause the snaps " roll " if you will and don't wear in the same spot all the time. The set up may seem overkill but you won't have dogs breaking loose very often. |

YEP!! That's on type I'll use. Cutter I'll find a pic of my favorite and text it to you or Landon so one of yall can post it for me. Only thing about those bull snaps that underdog likes is when you double them up, set them in opposite directions just to keep the gremlins out of em.

so what on the bullsnaps have failed on you guys? my set up is only a month old and they still look brand new but would like to keep an eye on the things that may fail.
