I was looking at some old family photos and came across a couple that had a 50's east texas cur dog in them.
This was the cur dog that my mother grew up with. No pedigree, half hunting dog, half babysitter. Rowdy was his name. Just wanted to share. Hope yall enjoy.

My grandmother with my aunt Marion, uncle Sonny, uncle Parker and Rowdy.

My aunt Judy, with my uncle Dudley, uncle Sonny, my mother Janice and Rowdy

That's cool DJ,....I was a kid in the 50s, so I can reflect on that time very well. Dogs were much more a part of everyday life back then. Makes me miss that time....I wasn't in TX, but life was the same here in Bama. Thanks for sharing.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...

Great pictures Dinah!

All these old pictures getting posted caused me to call my mother. She is breaking out the old family albums Sunday. She is cooking too! Grin

Ive heard my mother speak of the Daniels many times. I believe that they were good friends of the family.

Thats good to hear Allan. I love going through old pictures with my mother. Remembering where I came from keeps me humble and grounded.

DJ, back when i trained cattle dogs (border collies), Nome was the first place i ever won a trial at the Dunnigan ranch. Do u know them, or Jimbo? I was 19 yrs old and that was one of the best memories i have since i have had dogs. Now im strictly into hog dogs!

No, my mother spent most of her childhood in Nome but then they later moved to Spurger. So she may know them but I wouldn't. I was raised in Anahuac Tx. But I will ask her tomorrow.  Smiley
