I had to make a quick run down to Ft worth to pick up a couple of our 3yr olds from te futurity and made a phone call to Bill Tolson on the road to see if he had any pups available so i could work on replacing my dan dog,he didnt have any pups but instead sent me home with one of his finished dogs,Bo. He is a six year old dog, uncle to my dogs and a spitting image,he is well mannered and has seen more than his fair share of hogs. Bill knows i would do the same for him but i am so grateful to have the opportunity to hunt with ol' Bo until my pup comes around.    I will post some pics of bo tomorrow.

That's a heck of a deal.   Ugly Dog did a similar thing for me couple years ago, she gave me Lady and she had been more hogs than I had ever seen prolly, she is just a shadow of her former self, but she sure helped my pups and young dogs.

There would be more people like that if those gettin the dogs held up their end. It says something that he trusts you to respect his dog.

i agree 100%

says alot about a person to do that for someone but even more about the person receiving the dog!

Yes,dogmen are dogmen regardless of age and Bill and everyone that has ever hunted with me knows my dogs are my world, when i almost made the fatal mistake of selling my good dog i was approached by a friend and former hunting partner, his name is jeff and goes by JSH on this site. He told me that if i didnt have the time to hunt him like he should be,that he would gladly take him and hunt/take care of him for me. Jeff is one example of a dogman that puts his animals first and, like me,has had the same 3 or 4 dogs for the last 4 to 5 years and still going strong, trust is earned and if its ever taken away you can never get it back,i can count the true dogmen that i know personally on 1 hand and it has nothing to do with how many pigs or coons or cows they catch in a year,it shows in the bond between them and their dogs!!

I can think of a handful of people that have the same attitude about the dogs and helping people out.

A couple examples.
I needed a puppy starter, Thomas and Krystal Rohan sent me Sherry, said use her as long as I needed to. Sherry was a sure enough hog dog, and I was fortunate that they gave me that opportunity.

When Mike lost his Blue dog, a fella Mike hunted with named Sam sent Mike a jam up little cur dog to fill the void until Mike could get some other dogs rolling.

No money exchanged hands in either of these cases, it was just hunters and friends taking care of each other. As it should be.
