You know I could never explain how I prayed when I was searching for God. I know some people grew up in church. I did not. When life was just too hard for me I looked for help from the God I heard people talk about. This song is for people like me church or not.

That's a wonderful song Dub,...thanks for sharing it on here. I am a lucky guy,....my parents took me to church every Sunday and on most Wed. nights as well. I grew up in a small Southern Baptist church and for that I am eternally thankful. I was saved when I was 13 and I've tried to live a Christian life, haven't always been successful, but I have tried. I'm glad that you found God Dub,....we cannot do this alone. God has blessed me far more than I deserve and still blesses me everyday. Good luck and keep the faith,...we have a reward waiting down the road.....of that I am positive.

X 2. whoooo GLORY!!!!! Thanks for sharing brother, got me all choked up. Took me back several yrs ago, when i had hit rock bottom, and didn't see any light at the end of the tunnel. It was when i hit bottom I had nowhere to look but up and so I cried out to JESUS and he answerd.
For WHOSOEVER shall call upon the name of the LORD, shall be saved.

Well my turning point was one night when I was trying to decide if suicide was a cowards way out or if I was a coward for not doing it. I just looked up with all my heart I said, "If there is a God out there then do something with my life!" Within a week I blew the engine in my car and was eveicted from my apartment. I was living in a cow pasture in a Winnebago with no engine to stop the vandalism. The I asked God "What else can happen?" I got notice my storage room had flooded and everything was gone. I sat there looking at the cows and said, "Ok God I said to do something and You did."
When we are at our lowest God is right there just waiting for you to call His name.

I guess I've been in church off and on my whole life kinda.
When I was a little kid my mom and dad would drop me off at the Methodist church Sunday morning so they could sleep off there hang over from the night before or so the one could go bail out the one who went to jail that night. Those good people there feed me and my sister plenty of times and treated us like there own never treated us bad or looked down on us, they were a shelter during a bad time in our child hood
When i was about 13 I was a thief stealing cars here in the small town I still live in and later became a Police Officer in, Went to church one Wednesday at the constant pleading of a good man who drove a church bus for a non denomanational church, went in there and found out they were gonna serve pizza after a short message there so I didn't sneak out the back door. some time shortly after I was seated everyone there but me and that preacher vanished ( or so it seemed ) I began to see flash back of times when my daddy who worked on drilling rigs and drank hard whiskey would beat my mom, throw her through a glass table once and and many other violent acts I won't even bring up on here, I saw the cars I had stolen, the people i had hurt as i was following dads footsteps of being a fighter, saw the time my dad and mom pitted me up against a kid who lived in our neighborhood for the fun of watching me beat him while he cried for me to stop. I saw the prison that sits a few miles outside of hominy and heard God ask me " Do you want to go this way with your life " I began to cry and weep out load, then I saw my friends again, and all the other people who were seated in that crowded church. I don't know if that preacher gave an alter call or not, but I got up 13 years old and mean as a rattle snake, full of hate and pain and walked froward and gave my life up and took Gods grace in return.
Years went by and I got out of church as people tend to do, one day i took a job as a Police Officer here and an old Ambulance driver who remembered me getting saved that night began to hound me about how a man is called to take his family to church and be a spiritual leader. I fell under so much conviction that I would avoid patrolling by that church, If I did have to drive by it I had to hold my hand up and block it from my view or it would pull on me hard. I gave in and after a revival there one night dumped my wife and kids off at home and ran back in my truck as fast as possible and caught that preacher coming out the door about to lock it up, he could tell by the look on my face that I was a man carrying a burden and took me and and helped me recommit my life to God
Sense then I have had highs and lows in life, taught every level in church and preached a little to. In all those years of going I learned this one simple truth.
We are all fallen men who without Gods Grace and Gods love are worthless in and of ourselves. God loves you no matter how down and low you get and He always keeps the door open for any one who wants to come in. My daddy serves the Lord now and people who knew him from the " old days " don't even know who he is now, my mom is getting there and every day I wake up knowing God loves me.
Dub thank you for starting this post, God bless...Waylon l. Stokes

My grandparents always took me to church when I was little. And my aunt and uncle did too.
Long story short, I started drinking on the weekends when i was about 14, mom and dad just got divorced. I had never been real close to my parents. Had a rough childhood, also.
The drinking got worse, as the fighting, and in my early 20's got into drugs real bad.
Ended up getting married, and had a job driving big truck.
The LORD had been dealing with me for a long time, but I would run as hard as I could away from him.
It wasn't until I lost my Driving privileges, for w DUI, which cost me my job, and everything I owned at the time, my wife had left me, and I was sitting at home contemplating for the first time in my life, about ending it all, because I just couldn't comprehend any future. With pistol on the table, I was sitting there wallowing in self pity, asking why me, what had I done to deserve this, crying like a baby, I went back to when I was a small boy, and cried out to the only person left that might have anything to do with me, I cried out, LORD PLEASE HELP ME, and before I could get the words out of my mouth, I felt a peace come over me like I had never felt before , and in that instant I knew it was GOD.
My truck was almost on empty, and for the first time in my life I wanted to go to church, I said LORD if you'll get me half the way there ill walk the rest. Well the good LORD got to to church, and i was setting beside my uncle who never gave up on me and never judged me for all the wrong I had done, and when they gave alter call I looked up at him and asked would you go with me. Im gettin all choked up
Now I have a great job, got my wife back, and 3 more beautiful girls, and everything else has fell into place. Didn't have to go to no AA, or rehab, Havnt wanted any of that poison since. Im not perfect by no means but i am saved by the grace of GOD.

Mmmmm.... got a lot to say about this subject... would take weeks to get it all out... but I'll try and sum it up briefly for now....
I was raised up in church... christian reformed school for 12 yrs... speaking in tounges by the time I was 10... to put it mildly, I have a "thorough" understanding of the bible....
All of this 35 years in life has led me to this understanding. I believe in God. I thank him for what he has given me and I ask for nothing in return.... it is what it is.
Really a poor summary of what I have come to understand, but it's start I guess...

I also teach children's Sunday School. A mom came to get her kid. She was looking at me and then asked where I went to school. It turned out I went to school with her. I was worried her kid would not be there the next Sunday but he was. I have a testimony for the people that need it. It comes down to something simple. I was a wretch, I was lost BUT now I am found and I am a new person. It has been years and my faith has been tested. I may lose my grip on God BUT God never loses His grip on me.

God used a girl to reach me. Because God knows me. She was and is not a Christian but I know God used her. Because she told me what I needed to find God. She said I just had too many problems and I needed to get rid of them. I needed to look at everyone and everything and ask if it is part of the solution. If it was not part of the solution it was part of the problem and get it out of my life. I cleaned my life of everything and everyone including her. That only left God that I had ignored in my heart. It was the start. I prayed a simple prayer because I was confused about who God was with what the world told me. So I simply prayed to the Almighty God so it would go to the top God. (I was lost) So I just prayed; God help me to do what is right. God help me to turn from what is wrong. God please help me because I do not know what is right or wrong. I can tell you God answered and I did not like the answer but I kept praying until God gave me a whooping, another song I really like. I will post it too.
Now I am an Associate Deacon at my church. Sunday from sun up to sun down is reserved for God and helping others. The other six days I look for ways to help others. God laid it on my heart to put the Bible down and show God's love through actions because the hypocrites use great words. I sure mess up a bunch but I am quick to turn back because I know what is waiting if I get off the straight and narrow.
Another song I really like.

I went to church every now and then and decided that if it didn't work for them, then I would not go to that church or religion when I grew up...after lots of struggling/tears, alcohol, drugs, womanizing, I found lakewood church and jesus... and it has changed my life...I could never go back to the religion I grew up in.
when one starts out with a weak foundation we must go back and make the repairs so that we can build upon it...
Good for you Dub...
