just wondering if the dog goes through a full heat cycle again or what??? I have kept this gyp away from all the male dogs for three weeks... yesterday the bull dog dug into the pen and bred her. just wondering if after the shot i get to protect her for another whole month... is it like another full heat cycle?   freakin hard headed bull dog...... |

I've only used the shot once but if i remember correctly the vet said that the dog would go threw another complete heat cycle

put a cable up earlier today I talked to two vets today and they both said lutalyse is bad news..... one told me it causes lots of problems with the reproductive system and the other said i would have to give her 5-8 shots over the next couple of weeks at 30 bucks a shot... doc merry is closed today so i guess i will call her. looks like i might be having some Shiner/Brandy pups. Her va-jj is not swollen or any discharge (paper towel test) I wonder if they would still breed if she is fresh off her cycle.. this sucks |

the time period of standing heat is when she can take...
and ive used the lutalyse twice in the last couple months,
they tell you this because they have to its a side effect possibility
just like the prescriptions we recieve at the pharmacy. My vet recommended it and said one shot
during the first week the breeding has taken place -if not its too late.
side effects were possibly preventing her to breed again, infection, vomiting and i believe thats it..
both the gyps got canceled and no side effects were shown..

i cant remember exactly man, and dnt wanna lie to ya! ask ur vet they will know and price around at different offices, i give fifteen a shot and some charge thirty and fourty a shot. |

just a update.... the vet i trust was open today and she sold me the shot. she said lutalyse was NOT what i wanted the morning after drug is called ECP. it makes her go back into heat for one week then its over. She said the next heat cycle will be a little earlier than normal maybe 4 months later instead of 6 months. anyway hope it works....
