HOW MANY IS ENOUGH?  IM GUILTY IVE HAD UP TO 14 DOGS AT ONE TIME AND I DONT BREED.  SO TAKEN ALL THAT INTO CONSIDERATION WHATS THE PERFECT SET UP TO CATCH HOGS CONSISTENTLY AND STAY IN THE GAME EXCLUDING INJURIES. 3 STRIKE 2 CATCH? I FIND MYSELF BUYING DOGS I REALLY DONT NEED,  I KNOW IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH TO MANY DOGS!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK???

Hard question to answer. If you got the space I'm not sure there is a correct answer. I myself live in a regular neighborhood and don't want to keep my dogs on a separate piece of property so I'm keepin it at 4 plus 1. In the summer I'll be moving to some land so I'm thinking one or two more maybe. I guess here's how I look at it - if you can't get all your dogs in the woods (pups included) on a regular rotation you might have to many. Hell, I don't know. I might keep one in my yard just because he's a character or holds some type of significance. I guess the answer to that question is up to the individual, lol.

the right amount of dogs, is the amount you are comfy with feeding, housing and hunting. if you hunt 3 bays and 1 catch. if it were me, i would keep 2x the usual dogs you hunt with, 6 bays and 2 catch, but again its what you are comfy with. it all boils down to you.

Sounds Like you hunt hounds. Most hound guys like to turn the box loose before or during a hunt. I know one guy that raised plotts that wouldnt leave any of his dogs on the box no matter how many he had.  Soo  are you turning hounds or curs loose??
