Kennel Septic Systems

I'll be starting work and pouring the slab on my new kennels this week.  Plans call for a concrete slab with twelve individual kennels each 6' X 12'.  There will be two rows of kennels each sloping towards the center with a drain trough sloping from one end to the other.

Where I'm a little undecided, is how I will handle waste.  I considered installing a standard septic system but had two concerns.  What I read on the internet says that hair couldl be a major problem when washing into a standard type system.  My other concern is if a regular system could carry the capacity of 10 - 15 dogs?  I have seen some plans concerning building your own system, but also was concerned about capacity.  (Here's the link)

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?  What are some of you others doing that have dogs on concrete?

i got mine on concrete, of course i dont have as many dogs as you do, but i shovel the poop up and spray the kennels off with water and a little bleach.

We used a system similiar to the one on the link when I lived in Florida, but we had sandy soil, and never had a problem using two barrels and some drain tile. If you live in Belton, you have a lot of stone down there if I am remembering correctly, so i am not sure how many solid barrels and drain tile you would need for that type ground.

I have a septic on my pen ! i dont have that many dogs (5) but i have never had any problems..... I love it this is my third set of pens with a septic !! ( moved 3 times)  I will never have that nasty smell again !! i cant stand that nasty old dog pen smell !!!!! 

I have done it a couple different ways one way was when i poured my slab i sloped it to the back and in set a 2x4 and then sloped that to the center !! So on the outside edges the 2x4's were high and they met in the middle at a drain ! the drain was a 55 gallon drum (plastic) i built my own baffles and then tied in another drum with holes drilled about half way up the sides . then i made a 15 foot drain field ( ya need a lot of 57 stone for this)

all the ways i have done it worked but each time i did something different !! If you are familiar with a home septic and the baffles you should be fine !! i work in the water and sewer utilities for my town so it just comes natural for me !!

If you need any help let me know and i will gladly explain better or answer any questions !!!! Im not a pro mut have done a couple and have found some pros and cons!!
