tradition in the breed..like most pointers cut the tails so they dont accidentally startle the birds...I believe an correct me if im wrong but it cropping the ears was to prevent them from getting caught an torn by what ever the dog was after like bull dogs with the bulls

I've heard that dog fighters cut the dogs ears off so they couldnt catch each other by the ears.......don't know if its true or not but i think its mainly a breed/appearance thing myself......i like a well built pitt with cropped ears.

My catch dog has cropped ears guess you can say its for looks... But like the previous reply the bulldogs ears were cropped for fighting back in the day. Some people say they have trouble getting to bays but mine never seems to have trouble soon as you drop that tail gate you better clear the way cuz he's busting trough it haha. I love the way he looks but if you Do plan on cropping your dogs ears do it professionally
