Looking good Alfred, if I can raise mine and they are worth breeding, I've got a Black and tan male that would make a good cross that is full Parker.

I'd also be curious to see what pups were throwed if you crossed a full Yeller to another full yeller.  I don't know if ive ever heard that cross being made.  Always heard the yellow ones were extremely rough and most were bay busters.  I know you'll put em hogs so you'll find out for sure.

thx for the compliments...

BA-IV, i don't know of anyone thats got a yella parker gyp.  all 3 that came in this litter are males. but i am extremely interested in finding someone with a good male or gyp that is out of the Rowdy 2 line or i'm considering crossing to a mellman (not sure if thats spelled right) from Will.  what is your blk/tan male you mentioned out of?  i sure hope they dont turn out to be to ruff!!!

I have a black and tan gyp and male. They are off my Pearl gyp (Slim x May) and Larrys Joe dog. The Ned two years will tell how well Joe produces but as far as a dog, I've hunted behind a lot of Parkers and don't think one of them has had the handle or nose that Joe has had from what I've seen. I know of a couple of yellow dogs that are pure and one close to pure.

Joe is a Junior x Queen cross which should be what Will's Tracker dog is except Tracker should be about a year or so older.

Where did you get the DNA done and what did it cost per dog, if you don't mind me asking?

The testing was done by DDC Veterinary out of Fairfield OH..  I had 2 pups tested along with the dam & sire and it was $152 total for the 4 dogs.  Check out their website at www.vetdnacenter.com or call 800-625-0874.  I did not get this done, but they even have another type of test that will tell the lineage behind the dogs, and give a break down of the %'s within the dog...  ie, 25% hound, 25% catahoucie, etc..  Not sure how well thatd work testing a curr dog though....

So how does the test work?  You send in a swab of the pups and each suspected parent and they confirm that those pups are out of those two parents or not?

I've considered in the past breeding two males to a female, then just dna'ing each pup to confirm which male they would be out of.  I guess I would only have to send swabs of each pup and the two males.

Yes sir, thats basically it Bryant. Just go to their website and fill out a form stating how many dogs you want to test. then they will send you swab kits for the # of dogs you want to test via mail. U swab the dogs and mail the kit back in, and you get the results in about 2 weeks. You can pay upfront or when you mail the swabs back to them for testing.

if you were to do the breeding you mentioned below (2 studs and a gyp) they will still want the gyp swabed too (not sure why, but when i talked to them today over the phone the guy mentioned that the gyp needs to be tested too). if memory serves me right, after they have the dogs dna on file you can get each additional pup/dog tested for under $20...
